The Mermaid Call

Fine art project

A little ballad for those who need a little escape in this hard (covid) time

The night was dark and silent
But she could hear it in the air
Like a whisper of a siren
She knew it was calling her

Her eyes were still wide open
Her room felt lonely and tight
She knew she could not handle
Another sleepless night

“This is it not where I belong to
These walls won’t restrict me now”
And guided by the moonlight
She jumped into her car

She woke up in her dream place
Cold water tickling her feet
The gentle touch of the sunshine
And her hair full of breeze

Gasping with the fresh air
Giggling like a child
She dived into the ocean
And gave herself to the tide

Carried by the sea waves
The water so shiny and bright
In a distance she saw an island
Sanding in a golden light

She slowly came to the shore
Caresing her skin with the sand
She heard sweet voice singing
Inviting her to their land

She was dancing and singing
As if the time did not exist
She felt free like a bird
But it all seemed to be a mist

And she danced in the day light
At nights she swam into the see
“I found my inner mermaid
The one who was calling me”

And gave herself to the tide

Carried by the sea waves

In a distance she saw an island

“I found my inner mermaid
